It feels like we’ve been open for months already now when in fact last week was only our third party. With the island filling up with more and more eager party goers each day we’re seeing even more new faces coming down to get their first taste of Zoo Evolution. Our lineup this week was a real music lovers selection. Opening the main arena was R&S creator and director Renaat Vandepapeliere. R&S was founded in 1984 and since then it has released some of the most groundbreaking and genre spanning electronic music around. This variety in selection was mirrored in Renaat’s own choices as he took the crowd through 3 hours of broken beat, indie and industrial dance music, a real treat for everyone who got to experience it. Next up came a special performance from the Superfreq team. Though their music was more four to the floor than the previous offering it still kept to a slightly more experimental path than most Ibiza dancefloors are used to. Again a contender for set of the season and we’re only in May! Returning Zoo Project resident Pablo Marco took control for the next hour and kept the eager crowd glued to the dancefloor before our final Special Guest Miguel Cambpell closed out the party in fine style. Miguel’s music was the perfect way to top off an expertly executed evening of electronica.
Down in the Living Room Real Gang brought the family vibe once again. The atmosphere in the room was on point from start to finish with a feeling that reminded one Zoo Project staff member of the fabled balearic parties of old. Everyone dancing together, under the sun with no pretence or snobbery enjoying the music with smiles from ear to ear. Exactly how a party should be!
In the Mandala Garden Peacharoo’s all vinyl selection was complemented by live bass and percussion additions thought the early evening and DJ Nekken delivered an almost trance like set, think Goa beach by moonlight meets Peruvian jungle sounds. A highlight of the evening for many.
